Sunday Assembly 7 April 2019: Say ‘Yes!’ to progress

Do you want to open up more opportunities in your life? Then our April speaker Claire MacLaine has a message for you: say ‘Yes!’ more often. Claire writes:

“I had moved to New Zealand, the adventure capital of the world, for a ‘better life’ and found myself doing nothing. I just sat indoors looking out at the sun, just thinking. I had developed paralysis by analysis. Then I saw the movie Yes Man and it had a profound effect on my psyche as I realised I spent my life saying; ‘Ahh but’ or ‘Eh no’. So decided to start saying Yes to things that came my way as long as it was legal and safe… so began a three year journey (some of it very expensive!). Learning to say ‘YES AND…’ changed my life for the better. The psychological fear behind NO turned into the YES of emotional freedom.”

Claire works as a speech and language therapist in neurorehabilitation, and also has a background in improvisation, running ‘Improv Surgery’ workshops to help people bring out their spontaneity, creativity and confidence. We’re delighted to welcome her to Sunday Assembly Edinburgh.

There will be our usual mix of pop songs to sing with the house band, poems, talks, reflection and cake. We are family (and dog) friendly, accessible, fun and free to attend. Join Edinburgh secular congregation as we strive together to Live Better, Help Often and Wonder More.
