Sunday Assembly 1 September 2019: Go Wild!

Sunday Assembly 1 September 2019: Go Wild!

Join us on Sunday 1st September for to sing, talk, reflect, eat cake and celebrate life. Our theme is Go Wild!, and our speaker Nina Morris, Senior Lecturer in Human Geography at the University of Edinburgh, will be discussing the possibilities of ‘rewilding childhood’. She writes:

“Are today’s children too disconnected from nature? Are we overprotective of young people? Do we need to rewild childhood? Commentators suggest that contemporary lifestyles are detrimental, not just to children’s health and happiness, but also their understanding of, and relationship with, nature. Words are disappearing from their mental dictionaries and they’re more able to identify Pokémon species than animals. But what is nature and where is the wild? How might we redress this supposed imbalance?”

We will also be singing pop songs with the house band, hearing poems and reflections, meeting interesting people and eating cake. And it’s all about celebrating this one life we know we have, with no religion, on a Sunday morning. Our motto is Live Better, Help Often and Wonder More, and we invite you to join us on Sunday 1st September at Lifecare Edinburgh, 2 Cheyne Street, Stockbridge EH4 1JB. Family (and dog) friendly, fun and free.
