Our March Sunday Assembly will be takin a look at the Wojtek Project, which many Edinburgh residents may know from the statute of Wojtek the ‘soldier bear’ in Princes Street Gardens. What you may not know (yet) is that this statue is part of a wider project to honour Wojtek, who was found as a cub in Syria during World War II before being adopted by a Polish regiment and accompanying them through the war before ending his days in Edinburgh zoo in 1963. We will be hearing from Richard Lucas about the project, about Wojtek’s amazing story and also about what Richard has learned from his involvement with this international endeavour.
There will also be poems, reflections, songs to enjoy and sing along with, and a chance to chat with fellow Assemblers. All are welcome at Edinburgh’s ‘secular congregation’ as we celebrate life and strive to Live Better, Help Often and Wonder More.
We meet on the first and third Sundays of each month online at the moment. To register for our assemblies, please go to https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJUuc-Cgrj8rHNM24RG9ookmE_3XiSAzPRGrhtt
